Meet the Maker
Embellished Studio was born as an artistic venture from one bold idea. At a glance your look, your style and your home should be a true reflection of who you are. Body, soul and spirit. Not a performance and not a pretense. Discovering the real you inside takes time and introspective curiosity. Wearing it, living it and being that person inside and out is the boldest proclamation you will ever make.
If you don’t like what you see in the mirror, you can change it. If you don’t like who you are, you can change it. And if you have great bones but you want to define and build on it, you can embellish it.
The Definition of Embellish
Embellish (verb) — from the Old French embellir, meaning "to make beautiful." At its core, it means to add decorative details that enhance or adorn something, making it more attractive and more interesting. It also carries the meaning of enriching a story with meaningful detail adding depth, texture, and color to what would otherwise be plain. Embellishment is the art and the joy of creating the masterpiece.
Meet the Maker
I am Elizabeth. I am the maker, the dreamer, and the woman you will probably spot across the room before we ever meet.
Not because I am trying to be spotted. I genuinely am not. I just love what I love and I wear it without apology.
I am the woman in the cowboy boots and the flouncy dress. Not because I set out to make a statement, but because that combination made my heart happy when I pulled it together. I love who God created me to be and I have stopped squishing myself into the cookie cutter mold that determines whether I blend in to be accepted by the crowd.
My love for embellishment was born from a simple conviction. Nothing (and no one) is truly beyond rescue. I am drawn to the garments other people have set aside, the ones hanging forgotten in thrift stores and flea markets, the ones with worn edges and faded fabric and holes that tell a story of a life well lived. I see those pieces and I see possibility. A vintage patch over a worn spot. A bit of lace added to a hemline. Kantha quilt pockets sewn onto a dress. Blue jeans transformed into girly and joyful patchwork creations.
I love lace. I love ruffles. I love tattered edges and ragged hems and the kind of beauty that looks like it has been through something tough and came out better for it. I love color in all its abundance. I love the way a carefully chosen palette can walk into a room and say everything about a person before she ever opens her mouth.
None of this is about being flashy. It is an artistic expression of who I am and how I am known.
That is what Embellished Studio is built on. The belief that every woman carries something beautiful inside of her that deserves to be seen. Not hidden. Not dimmed. Not apologized for.
Embellished.
Yours truly,
Elizabeth
